Apple iOS 7 jailbreak news have taken a backseat lately considering the absence of any reports or rumours about progress being made in the jailbreak scene. However, a security researcher has stirred up a controversy by claiming that ‘someone around’ evad3rs has stolen an iOS jailbreak from the team and has sold it to a private buyer.
Security researcher Stefan Esser, also known as i0n1c, tweeted, “So apparently someone around the @evad3rs stole a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer”.
The first thing that pops up into anyone’s head would be whether the stolen work is related to iOS 7? If it is the case then chances are the Apple may get its hands on the tool as soon as it is released (paid or free) in public and would patch all the loopholes exploited by evad3rs pushing back the work on iOS 7 jailbreak by months if not a year.
When asked if this was true by iDesignTimes, evad3rs member pod2g replied “That’s complete bullsh–.” He also noted that “the jailbreak stuff is moving on, but slowly.”
On this ic0n1c said “The only way the @evad3rs could be sure that no one stole their JB exploits is if they have nothing at all to steal.” Esser also stressed that it wasn’t a member of evad3rs who did this, but ‘someone around’ the team. “I said someone around the @evad3rs stole it. I never said it was a member.”
No clarification has been provided by Esser regarding the iOS version which the jailbreak targeted. Several people have asked whether the jailbreak was for iOS 7, but ic0n1c has been silent on that till now.
i0n1c is a known vocal troll. He barely did anything in the JB community and has a HUGE god complex. Ignore anything he says.
