Microsoft will roll out at least six new Lumia smartphones later this year, prolific leakster Evan Blass aka ‘evleaks’ has revealed.
Blass, in a tweet, said that at least six new handsets are in the pipeline, and the claims turn out to be true, potential customers will have at least six new smartphones to chose from to run Windows 10 on.
These smartphones are expected to target enterprises and people preferring to own high-end flagship handsets. The upcoming Lumia handsets are expected to feature a number of out-of-the-box innovations. According to evleaks, one of the devices could even feature a front-facing LED flash which could be a first for a Microsoft smartphone.
Furthermore, as Microsoft has lined up the Windows 10 Mobile release after the Windows 10 PC version July 29 release, it is expected that most or all of the rumored Lumia handsets could come running Windows 10 out of the box.
The leakster also recently made codenames of the six smartphones public. The devices that are expected to be launched this year are the Cityman, Talkman, Guilin, Honjo, Saana, and Saimaa.
Recently, specifications of Microsoft’s upcoming flagship smartphone duo- Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL- were found to be leaked online through a benchmark testing site.
Based on the benchmark report, the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD touch screen display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC along with an octa-core processor. This smartphone is believed to be packed with a 3,300 mAh battery unit.
According to the benchmark test results, the Lumia 940 XL will have 16 GB of internal storage, and at least 1.5GB of RAM. It will have the following sensors such as accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, light sensor, proximity and NFC. The Lumia 940 XL will reportedly be the first Windows handset to come pre-installed with the Windows 10 OS.
The Lumia 940 XL is expected to pack a 20MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Rumors suggest that the handset will feature a USB Type-C connector, native pen support and an iris scanner for authentication which will permit users to unlock their device through its front facing camera unit.
