Just like its US counterpart, Blockbuster UK might be on its way towards closure as administrators have closed an additional 62 stores across UK laying off 427 employees.
Moorfields Corporate Recovery, the insolvency specialists, are having a hard time finding buyer for the game and DVD rental company which declared bankruptcy for the second time earlier this year. Moorfields announced through a statement that it may be forced the close the remaining stores and let go off all the employees as it hasn’t received any acceptable offer.
“Unfortunately we have still not received any acceptable offers so as a result we may be forced to close the remaining 91 stores affecting 808 employees,” read the statement.
The administrators have revealed that to support the employees who have been affected by closure of Blockbuster UK stores, Moorfields have listed job vacancies for a number of leading retailers in the UK.
