British comedian Russell Brand likes to be in controversy and his latest move is definitely one of those that will not only anger his promoters, but will result into great PR for file sharing sites. Brand announced that users can get his new DVD Messiah Complex through multiple ways and one of them is through The Pirate Bay.
Letting his 7.3 million followers know that his new DVD Messiah Complex is out, Brand also revealed through a tweet that there are several ways to get it including a download from The Pirate Bay. The linking to a proxy site means that Brand has provided them a way to bypass the ISP block enforced against The Pirate Bay after a court order against the torrent indexing site.
The move hasn’t gone down well with Brand’s promoters and those who put out the DVD. One of the users asked how did his manager / agent feel about promoting The Pirate Bay. Brand replied “Some people who’s jobs depend on it are angry. Complex.”
Brand doesn’t seem to be concerned about the fact that 2Entertain is owned by BBC Worldwide and Demon Music Group, a sister company of 2Entertain, is a member of the BPI, which played a key role in blockade of The Pirate Bay in the UK.
His followers have been asking where it would be OK with him if they watched the DVD over at The Pirate Bay and then made a decision about purchase and Brand’s response was “I don’t mind as long as you watch it.”
First of all, who cares about Russell brand?
Second, why bother risking a virus on a torrent site? The whole thing is on YouTube. Just download it from there.
