Twitter-owned popular live streaming app, Periscope, is now finally available to Android users. Periscope’s Android debut comes less than two months after it was rolled out for iOS. Periscope app allows people to stream live video from their smart devices and broadcast it to their followers in real-time.
The Android version of the app is similar to its iOS counterpart but comes with a few new features. The app allows Android users to tweet a link to their broadcasts and have optional location sharing. Android app users also get more specific control over notifications from Periscope, such as being alerted when someone who the user follows on Twitter broadcasts for the first time, or when someone shares a Periscope stream. In addition, a “return to broadcast feature” will help Android users to continue a broadcast after they paused it to attend to something else on their device.
Announcing the Android launch, the Periscope team, in a blog post, noted “Our initial launch was limited to just iOS, but we’ve been working really hard to craft an experience that feels special on Android, yet still unmistakably Periscope. Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of Periscope on Android!”

Sized 8.1 MB, the Periscope app is currently available to download from Google Play. It is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and later versions.
