Tesco Mobile has become the first UK mobile network to roll out 18 month SIM-only contracts starting from £10 a month.
The cheapest deal, which starts at £10-per-month, offers 1,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and 1GB of data, while the second deal at £12-per-month offers 1,500 minutes, 5,000 texts, and 2GB of data. Both deals come with 4G at no extra cost.
Those signing up for any of to the two plans will also have the option to opt for Tesco Mobile’s ‘Anytime Upgrade’ deal, where they will be able to upgrade their handset before the end of the 18 month term without having to pay off their SIM deal or early termination fees.
According to Tesco Mobile, the offering has been launched as large numbers of consumers are turning to SIM-only deals to get the best value tariffs whilst keeping their handset.
Announcing the launch, Simon Groves, Tesco Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, said “These data rich deals are available for anyone who is in the market for making savvy mobile choices and are happy with their handset.”
“Our customers told us that they are happy to commit to a deal for a longer period of time if it means they don’t have to worry about looking around for the best deal. Switching to a SIM-only deal could save these customers hundreds of pounds a year because the cost of a new handset isn’t included in the monthly tariff.”
