New reports suggest Google is planning to include a buy button on its search-result pages in the next few weeks.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Google’s search results will show up a buy button when people search for certain products on mobile devices, in the coming weeks. When shoppers will click on the buy button, they will be taken to a Google product page where they can choose among sizes and colors, select shipping options and make the purchase.
The search giant will let shoppers enter their payment information once, and then it will store it for use while paying for future purchases on Google’s shopping pages.
As per the report, the feature will appear only alongside paid search ads and not “organic” search results. It is also said that the feature will only be running on a “small percentage” of search traffic initially.
The report claims that Google is already in talks with a small number of retailers, including Macy’s to roll out the new buy button.
It seems with the rumored move the search giant is trying to turn into a one-stop shop where consumers can directly buy whatever they want. The exact date when Google will launch its “buy” button isn’t clear yet.
Google issued a statement which read “We do not have a comment to provide at this time.”
Earlier this month, Google also rolled out new “place an order” feature which lets U.S. customers order fast food directly from their search results.
