Microsoft has reportedly picked its next CEO to fill the void left by Steve Ballmer – company’s existing COO Kevin Turner.
Microsoft narrowed down its CEO shortlist to five candidates with Alan Mulally, Ford Motor Co chief and Stephen Elop, former Nokia CEO, Tony Bates and Satya Nadella making the final cut. The initial list compiled for the CEO list included around 40 personnel from different high-profile companies across the globe.
Quoting unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Chinese website WPdang.com, claims that Microsoft COO Kevin Turner will be taking over the CEO role for two to three fiscals. Following this, Stephen Elop will be taking over the role of CEO that will last much longer than Turner’s tenure.
Microsoft’s move seems to be in line with decisions by major technology companies like Intel and Apple, which involved selection of their respective COOs to fill the CEO positions.
