U.K.’s Virgin Trains is currently testing out a new service dubbed ‘HomingPIN’ which will let travelers track down their lost luggage.
The ‘ HomingPIN’ system works by giving each person a unique PIN code to register on the HomingPIN website. The PIN is linked to their mobile phone number and email address. The company promises to keep the information secret.
Users are sent luggage tags and labels branded with their unique PIN to attach to the belongings they want to track. It could be used on everything from suitcases and computers to passports, wallets and keys.
In case someone finds a lost luggage, he or she can input the code into the HomingPIN website. The company will then alert the owner via text message that the bag has been found and arrange to have the item returned.
Around 1,000 Virgin Train passengers are trying out the HomingPIN system at the moment.
