Samsung is expecting record shipments for the latest Galaxy S smartphone duo –Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge- that go on sale this Friday.
Following a string of positive reviews, the company seems to be quite confident of the new S6 models to sell briskly and lead to an earnings recovery in 2015.
Speaking at a media event in Seoul on Thursday, Samsung Electronics Co.’s mobile chief J.K. Shin said while the curved-screen Galaxy S6 Edge has garnered strong demand, supply of the curved-edged variant might be constrained for some time due to the technological difficulties in producing the curved screen model. He said that the company was working hard to improve production yields.
“We’re working hard to resolve the difficulty in supply,” Mr. Shin said, noting the supply issue could bother “for a while.”
Although Mr. Shin declined to provide shipment forecasts for the pair of new Galaxy S6 smartphones, he said it is expected that shipments will exceed the predecessor model.
