Apple might not have announced any official release date for its iPad Mini with Retina display, but it seems like a retailer’s website has done it for the iPad maker.
Target.com’s product listing page suggests Apple’s new 16GB iPad Mini Retina tablet could make its debut on the Thursday before Thanksgiving. MacRumors was the first to spot the news leak.
While the November 21 release date on the retailer’s website could only be a guess, it might also be a logical release day for the tablet as the date falls just before Thanksgiving and Black Friday, a major shopping holiday season in the United States.
However, it is not yet clear, why Apple would go for a Thursday launch when it has typically opted for a Friday launch for its entire product line-up.
Powered with an A7 processor, Apple’s iPad mini with Retina supply stock will be very short and tight until early 2014, suggests a recent report. These reports have been confirmed by Apple CEO Tim Cook himself at a recent earnings call. It is believed that Sharp is responsible for shortfall in Retina displays as it is not able to achieve the desired yield through its production process.
Though Retina mini supplies will be comparatively low, large quantity of Apple’s iPad Air will alleviate some of the smaller tablet’s demand. Apple’s latest iPad Air will be available for sale this Friday, with online orders to begin at 12:01 AM in the United States and at different times in other countries. It is also rumoured that Apple will start offering in-store pickup option for its iPad Air right from day one.
