Striking looks, spacious interior and low running cost is all what has made the Citroen C4 Cactus grab the Carbuyer Car of the Year title for 2015.
The Car of the Year trophy was presented to Linda Jackson, CEO of the Citroën brand, by Carbuyer’s Stuart Milne and Ginny Buckley at the Geneva Motor Show held last week.
Stuart Milne, editor of Carbuyer.co.uk, said “The Citroen C4 Cactus has quirky styling, damage-proof Airbump rubber panels, a comfortable ride and great fuel economy. All this makes it a worthy winner of Carbuyer’s Best Car of the Year 2015.”
The C4 Cactus was also awarded with the category title of ‘Best Economical Car’, with every model capable of returning more than 60 miles per gallon and the most frugal version able to cover more than 90 mpg. The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso claimed the prize for ‘Best Seven-Seater’.
Accepting the award at the Geneva Motor Show, Linda Jackson, Citroen’s CEO, said “The Citroen C4 Cactus has already won more than 25 major awards and these latest accolades from Carbuyer are particularly pleasing – for two reasons. Firstly, it’s fantastic to win the overall car of the year prize as well as taking the win in the Best Economical Car category.
“Secondly, Carbuyer offers advice to customers who are actively in the process of looking for a new car, so these awards are very important for a new entrant to the market like the C4 Cactus. And on top of the wins for C4 Cactus, the Grand C4 Picasso has been voted Best Seven Seater.
“Recognition like this validates our belief that Citroen is getting it right when it comes to designing and producing well-considered family transport.”
Winners in each category were chosen by carbuyer.co.uk’s panel of motoring journalists and road testers, based on their star rating out of five in terms of running costs, comfort, practicality, performance, engine, price, value for money, reliability and safety and optional extras.
