UK based multinational semiconductor and software design company ARM has acquired Dutch internet-of-things (IoT) company called Offspark specialising IoT communication security for an undisclosed sum.
The news about the acquisition was announced by Offspark chief executive Paul Bakker in a blog post. “I’m very happy to announce today that PolarSSL is now part of ARM”, he wrote in a post.
“We are immensely excited to join forces with ARM as it’s the front-runner in the embedded world and their expertise will give us invaluable support in expanding the PolarSSL library. Being part of the ARM team will also give us a fantastic boost in our mission to become the world’s leading embedded SSL solution”, Bakker added.
According to ARM Offspark’s PolarSSL technology is currently in use in a number of devices including sensor modules, communication modules and smartphones.
The CEO of Offspark added that they will continue supporting existing customers and ARM will enable them to expand their technology to new partners.
According to ARM’s IoT manager, Krisztian Flautner, acquiring Offpsark is going to help the company develop new internet-of-the things solutions.
