An analyst has claimed that Apple October 22 event will indeed witness launch of iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5; however, neither of the tablets will have TouchID or gold colour.
Ming-Chi Kuo, the analyst with KGI Securities, claimed in a new report released to investors that Apple will launch a thinner and lighter iPad 5 and a Retina display equipped iPad Mini 2, but Kuo said that ‘probably’ neither of the tablets will see gold colour and will be released without TouchID.
The primary reason behind these claims is that Apple doesn’t have enough resources to incorporate TouchID in iPad 5 or iPad Mini 2 and all the production resources at its disposal have been asked to work for getting iPhone 5S stocks to match the global demand. These claims are rather hard to believe as we have come across several instances where high-res images of iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 in gold have been spotted.
Kuo goes into component specifics as well and claims that Apple will equip its iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 with its latest 64-bit A7 processor and the M7 chip as well. The analyst has also revealed that the new iPads will have upgraded 8-megapixel cameras on the rear.
Apple is also expected to launch Haswell refreshes of its MacBook Pro Retina lineup with improved performance and battery life and improved FaceTime camera capable of 1080o video alongside the iPads notes Kuo.
There have been rumours in the Apple supply chain that Retina display for the iPad Mini 2 are facing delays, which means that the holidays season sales of the smaller iPad wouldn’t make a huge difference to Apple’s revenues. However, Kuo notes that iPad 5 will take the lead this time around help drive Cupertino’s sales.
