>Google has sent out invites for its October 24 event wherein it is expected to launch Android 4.4 KitKat, Nexus 5 and its Gem smartwatch.
Google has reportedly partnered with LG for Nexus 5 production and a recent LG service manual leak reaffirms this tie-up. The Nexus 4 successor is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, new MEMS camera technology, 16GB and 32GB internal storage, Qi wireless charging, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi among other standard options.
If Google indeed manages to stuff all these components within its Nexus 5 and keep it at a low-medium outlay, it may very well be the handset of the holiday season. Nexus range of smartphones has seen solid sales and most of them just fly off the shelves within days of going public. If you are a Nexus fan, do keep an eye on Google Play store next Thursday, as you might just miss booking one.
The invites followed leak of pictures of Nexus 5 retail boxes revealing that the handset will be offered in Black as well as White colours. The retail box does match the box design of the new Nexus 7 – all blue colouring, with the Nexus 5 showing half-way on the front side and the rest on the back.
Another goof-up on Google’s side was the one-minute Nexus 5 peekaboo on Google Play yesterday. It more or less confirmed that Google will be releasing the Nexus 5 with a starting price of $349 – apparently a 16GB model.
That “white” retail box was just the actual box without the slip cover. Still, no official white Nexus 5 to be seen.
