Microsoft has begun rolling out Lumia Denim update to Windows Phone smartphones.
“First, there was Lumia Amber. Then came Lumia Black and Lumia Cyan. Now Lumia Denim, our newest update, has started rolling out and will soon be available for your Lumia. The Lumia Denim update gives you new, innovative, premium features for work and play, combining the latest from Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 with exclusive Lumia innovations”, says Microsoft.
According to the Redmond, the update includes a slew of new features including Cortana voice activation and other new Cortana features, live folders on the Start screen, a new Glance screen that shows health and fitness info from the MSN Health and Fitness app, a better Internet Explorer browser, and consumer VPN for increased security.
Improvements to the Cortana virtual assistant include natural-language scenarios, snooze times for reminders and its integration with in-car systems. Lumia users will now also be able to activate the service with ‘Hey Cortana’ voice controls without the need to press the microphone. This feature will be available only for Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520 users.
Furthermore, Lumia Icon, 1520, 930 or 830 users will also receive an improved Lumia Camera app that brings features like Moment Capture and Rich Capture.
The Lumia Denim update is currently rolling out to a “limited number of devices” in selected markets only, Microsoft confirmed. However, a wider of rollout of the update is expected to begin this month following partner testing and approvals.
