Samsung has begun rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Galaxy S5 handsets in the UK. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update has already reached Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Spain.
Users can either update over-the-air or through Samsung Kies by connecting their device to the computer.
In order to download the update, users can head over to Settings > About Phone > Software Update, or hook up the smartphone to a PC and download via Samsung Kies.
The Android Lollipop version 5.0 adds a number of new features to the Galaxy S5 including Google’s updated security tools, battery saver mode, a redesigned interface, known as Material Design, which Samsung has incorporated into its TouchWiz theme as well as proprietary applications including dialler, messaging, calculator and S Health.
Other additional features are lockscreen, heads-up notifications, MirrorLink support, Tap & go, new ART and many more. Users will also get the improved fingerprint sensor which is designed using a new driver and Note 4’s fingerprint lockscreen.
It is to be noted that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update is based on 5.0 (LRX21T) and not the newer 5.0.2 (LRX22G).
The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 are also expected to be on Samsung’s Android 5.0 schedule with a probable first-quarter rollout.
