Microsoft has re-launched two of its popular Lumia smartphones – Nokia Lumia 830 and Nokia Lumia 930 – in special “Gold Edition”.
The Gold Lumia 930 and Lumia 830 variants will be made available in two versions only: one with white back cover and another with black back cover. The gold edition duo will land in select regions including Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and China.
According to the Lumia Conversations blog, the Lumia 930 Gold Edition will go on sale as early as this week, while the Lumia 830 Gold will arrive in its new color scheme in February.
Apart from the ‘anodised gold color’ aluminium frame, the new Lumia 830 Gold and Lumia 930 Gold will sport the same specifications as the standard models and would continue to use the Nokia branding.
To recap, the Nokia Lumia 930 features 5-inch Full HD display, a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (no microSD expansion), a 20MP PureView rear camera with dual LED flash and OIS, 1.2-megapixel wide-angled front-facing camera, and 2420mAh battery. Powered by Windows Phone 8.1 OS, the smartphone supports LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC.
The affordable Lumia 830, on the other hand, features 5-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD expansion slot up to 128GB, 10MP PureView rear camera with LED flash, 1-megapixel front-facing camera and 2200mAh battery.
Prices for the new premium Lumia editions will vary depending on region and operator, the Redmond confirmed. No specific dates for the smartphones’ UK launch have yet been announced.
