Low-cost Android tablet market is burgeoning at a rapid date and with main stream retail chain entering the vertical the competition’s ante has just been upped. First Tesco with its £119 Hudl and now Argos with its £99.99 MyTablet are the most recent examples of such Android tablets.
With Christmas fast approaching and a lot of factors to weigh in before a decision is made about which one to go for – Tesco Hudl or Argos MyTablet – we look at a brief comparison between the two budget tablets.
Display
Both the tablets features a 7-inch touchscreen display, but Tesco has an upper hand here thanks to the 1,440 x 900 pixel resolution with 242ppi density of the Hudl over Argos’ MyTablet which has a 1,024 x 600 resolution with a 169ppi.

Processor & RAM
Hudl is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz whereas MyTablet is powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Both the tablets feature 1GB of RAM, but it seems that the quad-core processor will have an upper hand theoretically. We would be able to say for sure once we actually run benchmarking tests on both the tablets and analyse the scores.

Camera
Tesco again has the upper hand here with a 3-megapixel rear shooter and a 2-megapixel front one on Hudl as compared to 2-megapixel rear and 0.3-megapixel front camera of Argos’ MyTablet.

Internal Storage
Argos has put in just 8B of internal storage in its slate whereas Tesco has put in 16GB storage. Both the slates have a microSD card for expanded storage of up to 32GB. Because of more internal storage, we will have to give this one to Hudl.

Battery
The one also goes in Hudl’s favour as going by the specification sheet, MyTablet promises only 5 hours of battery life as compared to 9 hours guaranteed by Hudl.

Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, both the tablets offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, and HDMI options. However, Hudl has built-in GPS which gives it an edge over MyTablet.

Verdict
Nothing seems to be working out in favour of Argos’ MyTablet and Tesco Hudl is far better an option for an extra £20.
