EE has updated its EE TV service to add support for BBC’s Red Button as well as a host of new apps including Deezer and Euronews.
Using the BBC’s interactive service, Red Button, EE TV users can now access iPlayer and the BBC Sport and News Apps, offering video highlights, headlines, scores and live streams of sporting events.
EE TV is also offering five new content apps to add to its existing mix of live and recorded Freeview, On Demand and Catch Up services. The addition includes video sharing site Dailymotion, music on-demand site Deezer, news service Euronews, kids service Hopster and expat-focused TV service Cloudio TV.
The update comes as part of EE’s commitment to continue to update EE TV service with new features and more on-demand content over time.
EE chief marketing officer Pippa Dunn said “We’ve designed EE TV so that we can regularly offer customers exciting new content and services without them needing to update their set top box.
“We’re continuing to develop new partnerships and features, so customers can expect to receive more updates over time – allowing them to make the most from their home TV experience.”
Despite of the latest update, the EE box still lacks some popular on demand services, including ITV Player, 4oD and Netflix.
The £300 EE TV box is offered for free to those who use EE, T-Mobile or Orange as their mobile provider and are signed up to EE broadband plan, which start at £9.95 per month.
