Japanese video game company Nintendo has announced its latest pair of Pokémon titles dubbed “Pokémon Omega Ruby” and “Pokémon Alpha Sapphire” have together accounted for over 7.7 million shipments worldwide.
According to Siliconera, the Pokemon gaming titles duo, which were released during the last week of November, have sold more than 7.7 million copies worldwide.
The 3DS games, which are remakes of the 2003 Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, were launched on November 21 in the United States, Japan and Australia and on November 28 in Europe.
The games sold more than three million copies collectively in Japan, the US and other territories within just three days of the launch with 1.5 million copies sold in Japan alone, and the remaining in America and Australia.
In the U.K., the combined sales of both the “Omega Ruby” and “Alpha Sapphire” versions have surpassed “Pokémon X and Y” sales by as much as 17 percent, making it one of the biggest selling video games in the country.
However, the remakes still have a long way to go to catch up to the original Game Boy Advance versions of Ruby and Sapphire, which sold around 16.22 million copies worldwide.
