Microsoft Xbox One may have been a slow starter as compared to Sony PlayStation 4, but the console has picked up recently owing to a range of promotional offers, bundles and price cuts and according to a new report around Black Friday sales, Redmond managed to ship a whopping 720000 units in US alone during Black Friday week.
According to VGChartz, Microsoft sold a record breaking 721,569 Xbox One units during the Black Friday week ending on November 29 making it the best console in the US outselling both PS4 as well as Wii U.
The report does sit in line with what we heard previously about Xbox One sales making up a greater chunk of Black Friday sales. According to that report, Microsoft’s Xbox One made up for almost 53 per cent of all Black Friday console sales as against Sony’s PlayStation 4, which managed to capture 31 per cent of the sales.
The primary reason behind the upsurge in Xbox One is the fact that Microsoft itself cut the price of its latest gaming console $50 price cut on all SKUs and retailers pitched in with their own bundle offers, many of which started for as low $329.
The Xbox One sales report on VGChartz report may provide a good read, but coming to a conclusion on a single report may not be a wise move. We are awaiting reports from other industry leads including NPD for more concrete information.
In related Xbox One news, Microsoft is set to be gearing up for a Xbox One specific wearable. The information comes from Joe Officer, head of Xbox One component supplier Exertis who said that the wearables industry should expect a range of devices from Microsoft in 2015 with at least one of them working directly with Xbox One.
