Russian smartphone maker Yota’s YotaPhone 2 will finally be available in the UK post its official unveil in London today.
The YotaPhone 2, which was first announced during the MWC event held at Barcelona in February this year, will be gradually rolled out to rest of the UK and Europe this month and will witness a worldwide launch most probably by early next year.
YotaPhone 2 features a 5-inch 1,920 × 1,080 AMOLED screen on one side and a 4.7-inch 960 x 540 e-ink panel on the other. The fully touch sensitive rear display will let users access various features such as calls, SMS, emails and so on. Both the front and rear screens are protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Yota claims that 74 per cent of the device is made up of the touch-sensitive display as compared to just 30-40 per cent on other smartphones.
The YotaPhone 2 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB in-built storage, 2,550 mAh battery and Android 4.4 along with wireless charging support. The smartphone maker claims that, if used purely in “reader mode”, the YotaPhone’s battery will last for almost five days.
There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter on board. Connectivity options include LTE Cat 4, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, A-GPS + GLONASS and microUSB 2.0 with a SlimPort.
The smartphones also features a Smart Power Mode feature that will lets user turn off the AMOLED screen and rely on the e-ink panel in order to extend the life of their device.
Pricing details of the new handset still remains undisclosed.
