Microsoft has updated its Skype Messenger for Android phone version adding picture-in-picture support.
The picture-in-picture feature, which was earlier available only on tablets, will allows users to view their conversation partners even while using other apps. This means that Android smartphone users will be able to get a clear view of the person on the other end, even while checking an email, browsing Facebook, or posting an update to Twitter.
The picture-in-picture windows will pop up on top of any app that the user may be using, and can be easily moved around as needed so that it doesn’t always get in the way. The great new feature supports users with multitasking, while also enabling them to keep an eye on what the person at the other end of the conversation is doing.
The new Skype update also bring in several fixes including Google+ style formatted texts- bold, italics, and strikethrough – faster loading of chats when opening messages from notifications, the ability to receive files via Skype for iPhone and other new clients and native Hindi language support.
Microsoft has also begun rolling out real-time speech translation feature on a test basis for a few users. Redmond has also recently announced addition of Skype chat feature to Office Online web apps – Word and PowerPoint- allowing users to collaborate with other users in real-time in either Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.
The latest Skype update is currently available for download on the Google Play Store.
