A new study has claimed that Microsoft Surface Pro 3 offers richer and more realistic colours through its display as compared to Apple iPad Air 2.
Displaymate Technologies, the company behind the claim, carried out the research using a range of devices including iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Tab S 10.5, iPad Air 2, Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
The company carried out an extensive comparison based on colour accuracy, full colour gamut, facial skin tone, organic colour, blue region and white point. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 came out with flying colours acing the charts and was dubbed “Best of the Best”.
As far as overall rankings are concerned Surface Pro 3 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 shared the second spot, but the surprising result was iPad Air 2’s last position. Apple iPhone 6 Plus managed to finish one position above the iPad Air 2.
Displaymate does note: “One particularly interesting and significant result is that the Apple iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2 perform considerably better in both the very important Skin Tone and Organic Color Accuracy categories, with the iPad Air 2 coming in a solid second behind the first place Galaxy Note 4.”
But the overall rankings of the tablet were affected because it was placed last in the Full Gamut Color Accuracy and Blue Region Colour Accuracy.
