Amazon Fire TV is now available in the UK and the set-top box is accompanied by availability of 600 apps and games – triple the number from the initial numbers when Fire TV was launched.
One of the primary reasons behind the increase in number of apps and games on Amazon storefront for Fire TV is Amazon’s decision of using Android OS for the box and company’s partnership with the gaming community including the likes of Shiny Box Games (Dungeon Quest), HandyGames (Ninja Hero Games), TellTale Games (The Walking Dead) and 2K (NBA 2K15).
Amazon Fire TV went on preorder in the UK in September with an intention to rival other similar devices including Apple TV, Google’s Chromecast and Nexus Player.
Fire TV offers a range of service options on top of Amazon’s own services including Netflix, Sky, Spotify and YouTube in full 1080p HD.
Just like the US version, the Fire TV will come with a 30-day free Amazon Prime Instant Video trial in the UK and Germany also, in a bid to get users sign up for monthly plans. The box will have local UK content including Demand5, Sky News and Blind (for the German users).
