Samsung had everything going for its fingerprint plans on Galaxy Note 3 up until the last moment, but because of unknown issues – probably component or technological hurdles or probably TouchID – the Korean electronics giant dropped the idea at the very last moment.
According to reports, Samsung is planning to release a fingerprint sensor equipped variant of the Galaxy Note 3 sometime by the end of the year or early next year. The Korean media is abuzz with speculations that Samsung, like its Galaxy Round, will release a rugged version of Galaxy Note 3 which will be waterproof.
According to Naver, if Samsung is able to continue developing the fingerprint identification system as per schedule, “it will be completed by the end of this year.” The report on Naver claims that the fingerprint sensor didn’t pass the final tests carried out in the US because of which Samsung decided to drop the system from Note 3 at the last moment.
As of now Apple, HTC, Pantech and Fujitsu have incorporated fingerprint recognition systems on their handhelds and if Samsung follows suit, it will be the fifth company to do so in mainstream mobile handset market.
Earlier today Samsung released first ever curved display equipped Galaxy Round smartphone featuring a 5.7-inch 1080p OLED display with specifications more or less like the Galaxy Note 3.
