Linus Torvalds has released Linux 3.18-rc1 in two weeks post Linux 3.17 release instead of previously announced three weeks.
Explaining the reason behind the early release, Torvalds revealed that he managed to do this because people were aggressive and sending a lot of pull requests and holding the Linux 3.18-rc1 for “another week just seems pointless.”
Torvalds has said that he will consider pull requests from those who didn’t send out their requests in the two weeks if they manage to convince him how he has wronged them by closing the merge window early.
“if you feel unfairly overlooked, send me a note explaining how I’ve unfairly wronged you”, writes Torvalds.
As far as the features and updates go, “74% drivers, 10% architecture updates, the rest networking, filesystems, core kernel, documentation, include files, tool updates…),” notes Torvalds.
