Toyota has revealed today that it will be recalling a whopping 1.67 million vehicles globally in a bid to proactively address three separate defects – one of which is to do with defects in brake.
The defects affect some of Toyota’s best-selling models including a million of those in Japan alone and 615,000 sold across the globe including the Lexus brand in the UK.
Going into the details about the recall, Toyota revealed that it will be recalling 802,000 Crown Majesta, Crown, Noah and Voxy models manufactured between June 2007 and June 2012 to replace a rubber seal ring in the brake master cylinder. The defect could lead to brake fluid leaking. Toyota further added that in case it finds that the brake fluid has already leaked it will replace the brake booster.
Following the first recall, it will proceed with a second recall globally wherein it will be fixing faulty fuel delivery pipes. In worst-case scenarios, the defect could cause a fire. The recall see repair of 759,000 vehicles globally, including 423,000 in the US alone.
Further, Toyota is also going to recall 190,000 front-wheel drive Corolla Rumion and Auris models in Japan built between October 2006 and October 2014. These vehicles are not equipped with an idling feature to fix a defective fuel evaporative emission control unit.
