Recent reports suggest Apple’s next iPad launch event has been scheduled for October 16 where the Cupertino is expected to launch its next-generation tablet.
According to a Recode report published Friday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the company’s plans, the Cupertino’s next special event could likely take place in less than two weeks time in an auditorium at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

As per the report, the special event could see the launch of Apple’s new iPad line including the iPad Air 2 and a smaller iPad Mini 3, as well as a new iMac. It is expected that Apple could unveil the new 27-inch iMac with a 5K-resolution Retina display, a thin profile and faster processors as well as improved Wi-Fi antennas.
There have been rumors that the new iPad Air 2 could ship with a bigger screen and also come equipped with fingerprint scanning Touch ID sensors. A bling gold iPad Air 2 version is also on the list.
Apple’s latest operating system for Macs, MacBooks, and iMacs, dubbed OS X Yosemite, which is approaching the end of beta testing, is expected to make an appearance too. Yosemite was first showcased at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference held in June this year.

Apple Pay, the iPad makers’ NFC-based secure mobile payment service, might also be on the launch cards.
Apple is yet to comment on the report.
