As promised Apple has released iOS 8.0.2 update that claims to fix issues concerning iOS 8 while also doing away with network connection and TouchID issues brought in by iOS 8.0.1 update.
Releasing the iOS 8.0.2 update on Thursday, the company said “iOS 8.0.2 … fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, and includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1.”
“We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1.”
Apple had released the 8.0.1 update on Wednesday, but was forced to pull the update within a few hours after users, who installed the update, took their complaints to Twitter and Apple user chatrooms claiming that the new update, dubbed iOS 8.0.1, made their phones effectively useless.
Some iPhone users reported that after downloading the update they faced difficulties in making phone calls and that they were unable to use fingerprints to unlock their device, while some complained that they could not get a mobile signal with their iPhones remaining in “searching” mode or giving a “no signal” message.
Some of the notable improvements brought in by the new iOS 8.0.2 firmware includes
- fix for cellular network connectivity and Touch ID issue on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets,
- making HealthKit apps available on the App store,
- fix for an issue related to third-party keyboards,
- fix to a bug that prevented accessing photos and videos from Safari,
- improving reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus,
- fix for an issue that caused unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages and
- better support for Ask to Buy for In-App Purchases.
Apple claimed the issues related with the 8.0.1 update affected around 40,000 iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users before the update was removed.
Apple iPhone users can download the update by heading to Settings>General>Software Update.
