Tesco is all set to launch its Hudl 2 tablet on 3 October; this is exactly what an invite sent for a Hudl related event suggests.
The UK Supermarket giant has already sent out invites for a media event scheduled for October 3 with the hashtag #LetsHudl. Tesco has also updated its homepage to allow customers to register for updates on the upcoming Hudl 2 tablet.
Although specification and pricing details of the new Hudl tablet remains to be undisclosed, it is reported that the new device will be an “enhanced” version of the original, with much bigger screen size, greater memory and a broader line-up of apps than the original.
Robin Terrell, group multi-channel director at Tesco, said the second iteration Hudl tablet has the potential to “take its place as customer’s primary tablet.”
The current £119 Tesco Hudl tablet sports a 7-inch screen with a 1440 x 900 resolution (242ppi). It is powered by a 1.5 GHz A9 quad core CPU running on 1 GB RAM and features a Mali 400 GPU and 16 GB of internal storage expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card. The Tesco Hudl packs an average 3-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front shooter, stereo speakers, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, SDHC port and microUSB port. The tablet runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Tesco had announced earlier this month that it has shelved plans of releasing its own Hudl brand smart phone in favor of the Hudl 2 tablet, citing ferocious competition in the smart phone market.
