Apple is going to source OLED panels for its Apple Watch smartwatch from LG Display alone and isn’t going to go with Samsung this time, a new report on DigiTimes claims.
According to the unnamed source cited in the report LG Display is expecting to ship a whopping 5 million OLED display panels to Apple. Cupertino is expecting Apple Watch sales in tune of 50 million in 2015 alone.
To be made available in first quarter of 2015, Apple Watch is Cupertino’s answer to a range of Android powered smartwatches currently available globally.

Smartwatches haven’t managed to garner overwhelming success and many would question iPhone 6 maker’s decision of launching Apple Watch this late as compared to its rivals. However, Apple is known for timing its products just right and chances are that Apple’s target of selling 50 million units of Apple Watch could very well be achieved if iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sales continue at the current pace.
Industry experts are siding OLED panel’s usage in smartwatch and other such devices considering the flexibility of such devices and their energy-saving features.
