iPhone 6 preorders sans 32GB model have gone live earlier today in the first wave of countries including US, UK, Australia, France, Japan, Singapore, Germany and Canada with the influx of visitors so high that almost all online stores offering preorders have been having issues like prolonged loading times and at times inability to open the site altogether.
If you are one of those who is looking to order an iPhone 6 with 32GB storage option, you will be disappointed – that is if you already didn’t know that there is no 32GB variant of the latest iPhone. The 32GB iPhone 6 didn’t get announced at the launch event and neither did it show up on any of the online store’s listing.
Reports of Apple dumping 32GB variant of iPhone 6 first surfaced in August and the reason cited at the time was that Apple was going to introduce 128GB variant and it was looking to keep only three variants of its latest flagship based on storage.
Further, it was reported that Apple has quite a few 16GB storage chips in its inventory and to get rid of those, it will cull keep the 16GB alive. Based on estimated iPhone 5S sales numbers, 64GB variant was selling less compared to the 32GB variant and the only way to get users to buy more of the higher storage phones was to get rid of the 32GB iPhone 6.
