Grand Theft Auto Online is going to launch today and folks over at Rockstar have been working overnight to add more and more servers to cope up with the huge number of gamers who are expected to log-on to experience the online version of GTA V.
Rockstar has also said that the game will be temperamental for the first couple of weeks, but during this time it will work on fine-tuning the game such that it doesn’t have major issues once the teething phase has passed by. Rockstar has also detailed the downloadable content options it will provide alongside the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online.
To get you going from day one, we have here a low down of what to expect from Grand Theft Auto Online once it is live.
The first thing that you would notice is that there will be gameplay sessions that you need to join before you can start playing. A total of 16 players can join in a single game session and can play together in co-op missions or even play traditional game modes like in the offline version. You can even go on a solo mission or collaborate with other payers for team jobs and missions.
You will be able to do quite a few other things apart from gameplay including practice in shooting range, rob an armoured truck, take out a gang and in case you fancy checking out the landscaping of the game you can even go do mountain biking. You can also play golf, tennis and base jumping by teaming up with other players.
You can take part in vehicle races, which the company claims, will provide users with an experience of “classic street competition and off-road tracks to boat racing on the open ocean,” and even “aerial events”.
Once you login you can customize your character based on your preferences. Once you start playing the game, you will earn reputation based on your actions using which you can level-up your character as well as unlock new items.
Rockstar has confirmed that there are micro-transactions in Grand Theft Auto Online, but it has assured that users wouldn’t be required spend any more to enjoy the game in full. “You don’t have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker”, said Rockstar.
