Mario Kart 8 did the job that Nintendo had hoped by shipping a whopping 2.8 million copies – meaning that nearly half of all system owners purchased the title. Further, Nintendo also managed to sell 510,000 Wii U consoles in three months ending in June, which may have marked a year-on-year increase, but were not enough to bump up the overall sales by a huge amount.
Nintendo Wii U will be completing its two years in November and with 6.7 million units shipped so far, the console maker must be hoping to reach the 10 million mark through the boatload of titles which are to be released over the course of next few months.
