CyanogenMod has announced the release of its latest snapshot of CyanogenMod 11 version M9 bringing in a lot many features and above all support for new devices including HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone and tablet.
As per the change log, CyanogenMod 11 packs new themable UI elements, new translations as well as improvements to the search feature inside the settings app, data usage information on CDMA devices without SIM cards, additional Bluetooth A2DP profiles, and support for Korean and Chinese to smart-dialer among other things.
CyanogenMod 11 brings with it lot many bug fixes as well – important ones being bug fixes for the new Heads Up notifications, fix to accidental wakeups, fix to built-in email app’s ability to store attachments to the local storage of the device for emails configured with POP3.
However, the biggest feature of the CyanogenMod 11 M9 is the stable release for HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 (sirius), and Xperia Z2 Tablet (castor). Ever since the devices were launch, there have been quite a few nightly builds, but stable releases were missing till now.
“This release marks the first ever (non-nightly) release for the Xperia Z2 ‘sirius’, Xperia Z2 Tablets ‘castor’ and the HTC One ‘m8? – kudos to their maintainers and all the other maintainers that bring you these releases every month!” notes CyanogenMod team in a blog post.
