Samsung has announced that mini version of its flagship Galaxy S5 dubbed ‘Galaxy S5 mini’ will make its UK debut next week.
The mid-range Galaxy S5 variant will hit UK market shelves starting August 7, the smartphone maker confirmed.
Powered by a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, the S5 mini features a 4.5-inch 720 x 1,280p HD super AMOLED display, 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory as standard, expandable up to 64GB using microSD cards. The upcoming device also features an 8-megapixel rear camera with Auto Focus and LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera with full 1080p HD video recording capabilities.
The handset runs on a 2,100mAh battery and also has IP67 water and dust resistance certification, fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor sensors same as big brother Samsung Galaxy S5. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC with the 4G LTE variant only, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 2.0, GPS and an IR blaster.
The Galaxy S5 mini will be available for purchase in Samsung Experience Stores, Carphone Warehouse and other select online and high street retailers for a whopping £389.95.
Another Samsung smartphone to get release in a fortnight is the affordable ‘Galaxy Young 2’ which features a 1GHz single-core processor, a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 512MB of RAM and with 4GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD support, Android KitKat 4.4 and Samsung’s updated TouchWiz UI.
Powered by a 1,300mAh battery, the handset packs a 3-megapixel fixed focus rear camera, but lacks a front camera. Pricing details of ‘Galaxy Young 2’ is yet to be disclosed.
