Jaguar has revealed its new XE model, designed to compete with the BMW 3 series is expected to deliver 75mpg. The public launch of the Jaguar XE will be held on 8th of September in London.
The west Midlands manufacturer says that the new XE is the only car in the class to use aluminum intensive monocoque, with lightweight aluminum accounting for 75 per cent of the structure.
Jaguar will make the extensive use of the high-strength aluminum alloy, dubbed RC5754, which contains high portion of recycled aluminum throughout the body.
Jaguar expects the new XE to be the most fuel efficient car due to the light weight. The CO2 emission and the fuel consumption on the NEDC combined cycle of over 75mpg and less than 100g/km respectively with 2.0 liter ingenium engine.
Mark White, Jaguar’s chief technical specialist, said: “The Jaguar XE body uses over 75% aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivalled low weight: it’s light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness. We’ve made sure our aluminum-intensive body structure exceeds all global safety standards without compromising on vehicle design or refinement.”
