Secret, the popular app that allows users to share content and post updates anonymously, now lets users to log in with their Facebook accounts.
The company has reportedly pooled a venture capital of $25 million and has rolled out two new features – Facebook login option and Secret Collections.
With just a life of 6 months, the New York Times has already valued the company at $100 million including the recent venture capital raised.
The company disclosed in its blog post that Alexis Ohanian, Ceyuan Ventures, Fuel Capital, Index Ventures, Garry Tan, and Redpoint Ventures are some of the companies which backed the $25 million venture capital.
With the new Facebook login option, the newsfeed of the app, when logged in with Facebook account, will be populated with content shared by the users’ friends and allows them to share content with friends while remaining completely anonymous.
The company said in a blog post that it has received requests from a majority of users to allow Facebook login as they will be able to share information with many of their friends instead of being able to share with only their phone contacts.
The team behind Secret also said that the users are looking for more content from their friends and the Facebook login option does just that. The app will be available for Android and iOS platforms this week, offering a new way to connect with Facebook friends. The company confirmed that it does not store the public name of the users anywhere.
Introduced alongside Facebook Login is the Collections feature which lets users follow a particular topic. It works similar to the feature in Twitter that lets users subscribe to a topic and get updates from other users on that topic. The Collections feed will be filled with fresh content shared on the topic and users can stay updated on the topic of their interest by subscribing to it.
