Almost 7 months after the launch on Android, Google unveiled its augmented reality game Ingress for iOS this Sunday.
Google has been working on this game for almost 2 years and it conducted a closed beta testing in 2012 before launching the game for Android users in late 2013. Almost ten thousand players took part in the beta testing in just a month and the game enjoys a user base of more than one million players.
Ingress gets players together to unravel the mysteries. While joining, they will have to choose between two teams: Resistance or Enlightened in order to go on a quest to find the Exotic Matter. Google has placed the Exotic Matter in real-life locations to which players will have to travel.
The company has also prepared portals and established them in different locations which are linked to virtual triangular fields over the areas where they are present. The game also has a complex and interesting plot which has to be closely followed in order to play the game right.
Google also publishes clues every week to make it easy and interesting for the players to continue with their game. However, the clues can be received only when they claim the local landmarks in the geographical location and add points to their team.
There are also objects which can be bought to make the quest better and the use of tech to capture territory is also encouraged. The progress of other players in the game can also be tracked and players can make a team to unravel the mystery together. Google’s description says that “Cooperation across neighborhoods, cities and countries will be needed to achieve the ultimate victory.”
The game is available for iPhones and iPads for free on Apple’s App store.
