Silent Circle, the network for secure communications and archrival of services like Skype and Viber, is now available in 79 countries worldwide to allow users to make secure international calls at local call charges.
Starting today, the company has made international calls to 79 countries completely free of roaming charges and has announced that even calls to non-subscribers will be encrypted.
Earlier, subscribers were able to make calls, send texts and transfer files securely over the network only to those who have a Silent Circle service. With the expansion, subscribers will be able to call or text with end-to-end encryption without requiring the receiver to have the service enabled.
The company claims that its service is available in 4 to 5 times more countries than what its rivals Skype and Viber are offering currently. Those who have an Out-Circle service on their devices will receive a ten digit unique Silent Phone number to make and receive international calls without roaming charges.
Call costs are fixed at $12.95 for 100 minutes, $19.95 for 250 minutes, $24.95 for 500 minutes and $39.95 for 1,000 minutes. Silent Circle also has specially customized plans for businesses and claims that employees can save “tens of thousands of dollars a month” as international roaming charges are not incurred under its plans.
Mike Janke, CEO of Silent Circle said that the company’s Out-Circle encrypted calling plans are a major step in bringing private encrypted communication capabilities to all areas around the world. He also added that while Silent Phone and Silent Text have been offering “unmatched advantages,” the roaming-free international calling plans now offers cost and flexibility benefits too.
Janke said that Silent Circle’s calling plans become a low-cost alternative to traditional calling and it also comes with an assurance of encryption.
The apps can be downloaded on its Blackphone and also on devices running Android and iOS.
