Amazon on Tuesday announced that it has expanded its Appstore Developer Select programme to the UK, Germany, France and Spain with an aim to encourage developers to optimise apps and games for its Appstore and Fire OS.
Amazon initially launched the free developer programme in the US in October last year to give a marketing boost to developers who optimise their apps for its Appstore and mobile OS platform Fire OS.
The programme offered a number of incentives to all the participating developers including option to receive a premium placement in Amazon’s Appstore; 500,000 ad impressions on the Amazon Mobile Ad Network for a US version along with inclusion in the Amazon Appstore Coins Reward category.
In addition, developers who optimise their applications to include features present in the Fire Phone and make their app available in the US, also get qualified for a 500,000 Amazon Coins offer allowing US customers to earn these coins with the purchase of apps and games.
Finally, developers who sign up to the programme will also get credits equal to 25 percent off their first £1,170 ($2,000) in AWS services annually.
Customers making their first purchase of any Appstore Developer Select apps, games or in-app items, will be entitled to receive 75 bonus Amazon Coins which can later on be redeemed in the Amazon Appstore. They will also get 30 percent of the cost back in Amazon Coins on future qualified app purchases.
