Electronics giant, Panasonic, on Sunday, announced the launch of 3E, its education-based hybrid tablet, at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference.
The 10-inch hybrid, designed for use by students from kindergarten to high school, is a 2-in-1 convertible tablet with a detachable keyboard, a thermometer probe and optional magnification lens which does the work of a microscope.
The Panasonic 3E runs Windows 8.1 Pro out of the box and features a 1,366 x 768 LCD five-point touch display, an Intel Atom Z3740D quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB to 64GB of storage, a microSD card slot and two onboard cameras including 1.2 megapixels front camera and 5 megapixels rear camera.
The front and rear cameras can be used with IntelliSense’s Lab Camera and Media Camera applications to create educational project videos, Panasonic said.
The company claims that the education 2-in-1 tablet has been designed to survive rough and rugged handling by students as it comes with an IP51 dust and water resistance case that meets the IP51 standard and can withstand a fall of up to 70 centimeters (roughly 28 inches).
The 3E also features a micro HDMI port, a USB 3.0 port on the tablet and a USB 2.0 port on the keyboard dock along with 802.11n WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options.
Microsoft OneNote, SPARKvue, ArtRage and Kno are some of the scholastic software that will come pre- installed on the new tablet. The tablet is said to come with a battery life of up to 8 hours.
