Apple has a few promises to keep and it seems like Apple will live the talk by rolling out an iOS 7.1.2 update soon with bug fixes and security patches.
The update will come with encryption for email attachments, a fix for lock screen vulnerability and more support for iBeacon alongside several other minor bug fixes.
Sources close to the matter claim that the company has already began rolling out a test batch to carrier partners before the update will be made available to the public in about two weeks.
The email attachment encryption issue was discovered last April which prevented email attachments from getting saved with encryption. The flaw was found in iOS versions up to 7.0.4. The company acknowledged the issue after the release of iOS 7.1.1, a couple of months ago and promised to fix the vulnerability.
While such issues were found with iOS 7.1.1, the next version had a bug which prevented the Mail app from downloading email messages.
Sources also claim that a Lock screen vulnerability fix that gave limited apps access to the device which is not discovered by many, is also coming along with the update. There was also another issue to be addressed, i.e., the devices had issues with transferring data from third-party accessories, which is expected along with the update.
The iBeacon connectivity will also be enhanced in the iOS 7.1.2 update, however the reports do not mention specific enhancements.
Users are also waiting for Apple to fix the iMessage bug that stops messages at Apple’s servers after the phones are unlocked, from getting delivered to the receivers. The company promised a fix in May but Apple has not responded to the issue after the promise was made.
