Google expanded the service to over 40 countries in March this year, and the latest addition of 21 more markets, brings it to a total of 90 international markets.
But still, Google’s movie streaming service lags behind Apple in terms of content availability as the iPad maker’s iTunes service is currently available to users in around 102 countries.
Google Play Movies service enables users to purchase or rent movie and television content. A recently released update also lets users watch movies and TV episodes offline via an extension in Google’s browser, Chrome.
However, the update was specifically for Chromebook users only, giving them the ability to Play Movies, pre-download their favourite shows and watch them at a later date. The specific Chrome extension is available in the Chrome Web Store.
Google also recently expanded availability of its Chromecast HDMI streaming dongle in 6 more international markets – including Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland.
