BlackBerry is not going to take a no for an answer atleast in markets which it has managed to retain quite a few loyal customers and once such country is India where it is going to launch its budget Z3 smartphone very soon.
BlackBerry Z3 is an outcome of the collaboration between the Canadian company and Foxconn. Z3 has already been launched in Indonesia under the name Jakarta – a market which is believed to be BlackBerry’s stronghold at IDR 2,199,000 (£120). BlackBerry claimed that the smartphone was a huge success and was sold out on day one.
Those who are not aware of the specifications of this budget smartphone from BlackBerry, here is a little low down – the 5-inch smartphone is powered by Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU, 8GB internal storage expandable to 32GB using a microSD card, 1GB RAM, BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS, 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.1-megapixel front snapper.
The smartphone has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, draws its juice from 2500 mAh battery. BlackBerry claims that the Z3 offers a talk time of 15 hours and a standby time of 384 hours.
If we go by the current exchange rate IDR 2,199,000 converts to just over INR 11,000, but we don’t see the handset launching at that price. Considering that Indians still crave for BlackBerry, the Canadian company may tag the Z3 with a higher price tag – somewhere around INR 13,000 – just to see the initial reaction and will the reduce the pricing through promotions and buybacks.
