BT steps up to get in par with its rivals by offering an Extra Box for its YouView service which lets subscribers connect another television to its main connection.
The Extra YouView Box connects a second television in a different room and all the packages subscribed for can be viewed on it. It also offers a 7-day catch up TV and features such as rewind, pause, and record TV shows.
“We are delighted to be able to offer BT customers the added flexibility of having two YouView+ boxes in their home. Over the past year, we have transformed our service by introducing pay TV channels delivered in fantastic HD quality on our market-leading YouView+ box,” said Alex Green, Director of TV at BT in a statement.
With this move, BT offers an Extra Box, for two televisions to be connected per household while its rivals like Sky and Virgin Media already offer multi-room connectivity.
The YouView Extra Box works with almost any channels except the Sky Movies and Vision Set-top boxes. Subscribers must have at least a 35MB line, considering BT offers all of its services through fibre connection.
As the company’s broadband service Infinity takes care of the service delivery, it is said that subscribers can expect uninterrupted viewing.
Those with a Vision set-top box can upgrade it to YouView+ if they can shell out £35. Those who already have the connection can get the Extra Box for £5 per month or a one-time payment of £99.
