Oracle has released an update for its database management system – Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 – which will allow organisations the ability to offer database-as- a-service with features such as high availability and disaster recovery.
Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 brings with it advancements in middleware management as well as access control and will allow enterprise customers to consume their database in a rather robust and agile environment.
Dan Koloski, senior director of product management for the Oracle Enterprise Manager line of software revealed that the Release 4 of the database management system focuses on three key aspects – cloud automation, stack management and enterprise-grade management – enabling its customers to use cloud infrastructure for mission-critical applications.
Further the latest release also eases the process of deploying Oracle 12C database through Oracle Enterprise Manager. The software also provides an updated overview of Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c – the latest version of Oracle’s enterprise Java application support software.
To ensure that the added functionality doesn’t compromise on security, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 brings with it enhanced security features including a new security console that enables audit of the manager’s configuration. The inclusion of SNMPv3 ensures that the Enterprise Manager can be used in more heterogeneous setups.
The latest release can be used to manage both Oracle’s as well as third-party infrastructure – but as far as cost and efficiency savings are concerned, they will be highest if the Enterprise Manager is used along with Oracle’s products.
