Apple has introduced the 8GB iPhone 5C in India, but in a rather surprising move has priced it higher than the 16GB variant that is available for less through online retailers.
The 8GB iPhone 5C has been priced at Rs. 37500 (~£380) while the 16GB variant, which was launched at Rs. 41,900 (~£427), is now available for just Rs. 34,400 (~£350) making it a cheaper than the 8GB variant. The move is definitely not comprehensible and Apple should have looked into the pricing if it wants to sell 8GB iPhone 5C in India.
In terms of specifications, Apple iPhone 5C features 4-inch Retina display, A6 chipset, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, is enclosed in a polycarbonate shell and is available in five colour options with glossy finish.
The 8GB variant isn’t available globally and has been launched in select few countries including UK and France in partnership with local telecom operators.
Industry analysts have been holding steep iPhone prices as one of the reasons why Apple isn’t able to garner enough market share in India. Apple hasn’t managed to break into the top 3 smartphone vendor list despite the fact that it ranks second globally.
Keep it up Apple! ????
